New barn

I have a lot of news to share. So my cousin who has a horse just recently moved to a new barn. Its called Sterling Pointe Farm and its AMAZING. Its really clean, theres tons of amazing horses, and the trainer Bill is amazing! I went one day to see her horse and her friend Taylors horse and they got a colt named Louie! Hes so sweet! 8 months old! So then I planned for another visit and a lesson. The lesson was yesterday and I rode a small horse that is just inches away from a large pony named Tumbleweed. She was so perfect! Bill and another trainer there named Roger thought I was a really good rider and they want me to come back. Roger said I had good posture and a good arch in my back. They said I should try saddleseat riding! They train huntseat, western, and saddleseat there. I watched some videos and it looks really cool! Im probably going to do more lessons and they owner of the colt said I should continue lessons and in 18 months when Louie is bigger I could ride him! I dont know what Ive gotten myself into but its really exciting! I have pictures on my computer but im on my ipod so its not working.

Me and Sadie are working on our jumps. We get higher and higher each week. I hope eventually we will get up to 3 feet or higher. I also bought MTG for Sadie’s mane, tail, and forelock to help it grow back. Lastly, I got her purple gallop boots

Unlucky Patterns

Well you see, Sadie is a very spunky horse. She loves going super fast and refusing jumps. Her favorite thing to do…. try and make me fall off. And as far as I can tell, she’s very good at it. I think its been…. maybe 8 times I have fallen off her, 3 times in the last 2 months. The 3 most recent times have been the worst. Most of my falls were just into the snow, or slipping off, etc. About 3 weeks ago I was riding Sadie in her very big grassy paddock. I was alone because Kallie was in North Carolina. I was cantering and she took a really sharp turn around the corner and I flew off into some bushes. I hurt my knee, which still to this day hurts occasionally. The next one was last Thursday in the ring. I was jumping Sadie about 2’3″ and she stopped short right in front of it. I bet you can guess what comes next, I flew over head and did a front flip onto the pole and it snapped in half :/ whoops. It didn’t hurt that bad, I was only scared Sadie would step on me, which I am always scared about. The last one, was yesterday. I was cantering in the paddock and theres a stone wall which I jump over and she turned to the lower part and I wasn’t expecting it so I slowly lost my balance and slipped off the side into the dirt. I slid on my back and got all dirty and hurt my hip. It was yesterday so of course it still hurts Sadie isn’t always naughty. Today she was good when we went in Calypso’s paddock which is out front with a carport that’s fun to go through. We found a log that we pulled out to make a little jump which is always fun. I can’t wait to start gymnastics today! I have so many activities but I have to admit, horseback riding is my favorite

Been So Busy

I have been so busy lately I haven’t even wanted to post. It just takes so much time. I’m not very patient and I am not the fastest typer… Anyway I had a show… July 25th which I forgot to blog about. It was good. We got two 3rd’s and a 6th. There was a bigger turnout and the judge didn’t seem to like Juliet, considering Desi got two 4th’s and two 5th’s. The judge even asked Kathy to come see him after the class, which she didn’t. I have a show this weekend too. It’s the 22nd which has a different judge After this show I will qualify for the end of the year awards banquet.

I really like showing and I hope to continue it a lot longer. Hopefully more in the school year where I will be able to… well, brag more about ha ha. And I won’t have to miss my weekends at the cape, and my mom or dad can come.

The Good, The Bad, and The Ugly

The Good: Emm, Sadie’s daughter was brought to another barn yesterday to see if someone would buy her. I’m not sure if she stayed but that is good because Emm is really mean and dangerous but good for riding.

The Bad: Kathy is going to miss her, and I will too becasue she is so pretty and Sadie’s daughter.

The Ugly: Emm was SO dirty and Kathy spent forever trying to get her clean! She had to cut her mane and it was a little sloppy, but still good. Hopefully it was all worth it!

My First Show Results!

Well, the picture says it all, we did awesome at the show! We got a first, fourth, fifth, and sixth! It was so fun, but HOT, HOT, HOT!

Our first class was W/T equitation, I was nervous and confused so we got a sixth place, which was good enough for me because there was 8 people in the class.

Our second class was W/T pleasure, I wasn’t nervous anymore and I knew what I was doing, so we got a first! They called off the awards from sixth to first so when they were calling off the places and got to second either I could have not placed or gotten first. I was so happy with first place! I also got a cool ring.

Our third class was W/T command. I was scared about this. At first I did okay, but then when they said all halt and stand, Juliet wanted to GO! I couldn’t keep her standing and she started backing up. We got a fifth, which I was pretty happy about.

Our fourth and last class was W/T cross-rails. They were higher than we practiced, so it was a mess. Juliet didn’t exactly jump them she trotted and then stopped and jumped. We had to go over each of them twice and so the first round she was fine, but the second, she knocked two of them down and started cantering at the end. Well, I wasn’t the worst, because I got a fourth. I could tell that almost all of the people in my class didn’t know what they were doing but thats okay.

The show was meant for beginners like me so it was so perfect.

Desi, only had 4 people in her class, and so she got two seconds. Juliet was too fast and excited, so it was a little sloppy, but in my opinion she did great! Well all the hard work payed off and I had a great time!!!!

I rode Juliet today in the blistering sun and it was so fun! I have been riding her a lot lately. There is only 6 days till the show! I am so excited! Kathy said I could stay at her house Friday, Saturday, and we would go to the show Sunday. My mom is going to be at the cape all weekend so she isn’t going top the show Oh well, she says she will go to other shows but not this one

I have been counting down the days till the show! I am so excited! Ugh I can’t wait any longer! So these are the pics that Kallie took. There are also videos too!

So Desi, Kathie’s granddaughter absolutely loves me! She looks up to me and she is the cutest 4 year old ever! Well yesterday at the barn, I show up and Kathie’s husband, Steve who takes care of the horses, was there. He told me that Desi got her hair cut like mine. Of course I went over to the house to see her and when I got there she was so cute with her little hair cut! She always looked in the mirror, and when I brought her to the barn she asked if there was a mirror! She is just like me in so many ways! Here she is! Isn’t she adorable!

I have some very exciting news! Well, I think it is exciting. Well, I will start off saying I had a great week. Yesterday when I went to the barn, I rode Sadie and then after my ride, when I was brushing her with Kallie, brushing Beau, and Kathy (the owner of the barn) asked us to brush Juliet, another one of her horses who is a pretty quarter horse. Of course we said yes and then she asked us to lunge her. Before she found out that Kallie was leaving, she asked us to ride her. I was so excited! Then I found out that Kallie was leaving, which actually made me happier. So you see, Kallie just happened to be wearing really short jeans and rubber boots and I was wearing nice summer riding pants (because it was was warm out) and half chaps. I could tell Kathy was glad I could stay and I was dressed properly. So after I brushed and lunged Juliet I went into the barn and tacked her up using Sadie tack that fit her perfectly. After I tacked up and when into the ring to ride, Kathy, Desi (her granddaughter who lives with them), and her friend Toria came out to watch. Kathy had to tell me all about Juliet and how she just needs to be clucked to trot with not much leg and how she needs to be kissed and squeezed with the outside leg. I got her trotting and struggled a little at first to get her cantering, until Kathy brought out a crop, which made it easier. When I was finished Kathy said I looked really good and it was Desi and Toria’s turn to ride. Desi did great because she rides maybe every other week (she is 4 and so adorable!). Her friend did great too. Well, now comes the exciting part! While Desi was riding Kathy asked me to do a show on Juliet! She said that there was a small backyard show, which was big enough for me, and me and Desi would have our first shows! This may not be exciting to everyone else but I am SUPER excited and cannot wait! Kathy is supplying me a coat and shirt but I was wondering if anyone reading this that has done a show could help me and tell me what else to wear besides riding pants, and Kathy said Paddock boots and half chaps were fine. Thanks Oh and p.s. my hair is really short and doesn’t fit in a bun or braids, only a ponytail.
